Preparation

A list of preparations (cosmetic and non-cosmetic) I've made for the first day of classes Wednesday:
  • Worn jeans, shorts, T-shirts and sneakers as often as possible
  • Purchased teacherly brown leather briefcase
  • Not shaved so that I can shave Tuesday night
  • Chosen an appropriate ice-breaker question
  • Looked at the ID photos of my 16 students online a dozen times and tried to become familiar with their names (difficult since all my female students have long, wavy brown hair)
  • Put materials on reserve, online and at the library
  • Negotiated film screening times from the bureaucracy-obsessed classroom managers (this one's still in progress; they seem to think I have $70 to spend to rent a DVD player and TV for a Sunday night screening)
  • Ordered black knee-high boots from Zappos (should arrive tomorrow)
Unfortunately, this still leaves the question of what exactly I will say and wear the first day of class, but both can be obsessed over between now and then.

You bought black knee-high boots? Then there is no need for stressing or obsessing. Everything is fine. :)

And they fit too! (Unlike the ones I ordered from Zappos before, which were too skinny for my normal calves.)
